Frequently Asked Questions About St. Barnabas Assisted Living
How do I know if I'm ready for assisted living? If you're having more and more difficulty with everyday activities such as showering, dressing, getting around the house, or running errands, then an assisted living facility may be right for you. An assisted living facility can give you the daily support you need while helping you to remain as independent as possible. What happens if I need skilled nursing care? Will I have to leave my community? At St. Barnabas, you can remain within the community even if your care needs change. For example, you might require the services of skilled nursing or rehab center, both of which St. Barnabas can provide. When your treatment is complete, you can then return to your home in the Assisted Living division. Are there medical staff and physicians for St. Barnabas Assisted Living? Our medical director and nurse practitioners make weekly visits to the Assisted Living division. They are also on call 24/7. If residents choose the services of the St. Barnabas medical director, their physician will not change even if the resident transfers to St. Barnabas skilled nursing or rehabilitation therapy. Of course, assisted living residents may choose to see their own physicians instead. Can I afford St. Barnabas Assisted Living? Our rates are very reasonable and are based on a month-to-month residency agreement, so there's no up-front buy-in fee. For those who qualify, assistance is available through the Waiver program or PACE. Are there age restrictions? Generally, you must be age 55 or older. Some exceptions are made in the case of diability. Are Apartments furnished? No apartments are furnished. Residents utilize their own furniture and belongings to make their new apartment "home."
