RESTORATIVE THERAPY SERVICES
Therapy services repesent the hallmark shared service in our new care delivery model.
Our residents enjoy a specially designated therapy space just across our connector pedway.
Therapy services provided include physical therapy, occupational therapy,
and speech therapy. All residents are
screened upon admission to determine the need for rehabilitative services.
The physical therapist determines care needed for the resident relative to strength, muscle tone, ambulation, sitting, transferring, and general mobility.
The occupational therapist determines care needed that is more defined to the activities of daily living, such as the ability to feed, dress, and groom themselves.
Speech therapy determines care needed for speech and swallowing needs. We have a new program, Vitalstem, that allows the speech therapist to stimulate the esophagus and larynx, thus improving the quality of both speech and swallowing.
Each area of therapy services participates
in determining the overall plan of
care for
individual residents with services provided on a daily basis. Continued rehabilitative services are based upon goal completions and progress. Residents receiving rehabilitation services receive the highest Resource Utilization Groups (RUG) grouping per the Minimum Data Set (MDS) system and therefore receive the highest reimbursement levels. All residents, at all levels of care, are eligible for rehabilitative services.
